Snowflake Challenge day 12/Torchwood drabble

Day 12

Create a fanwork.

Sounds simple enough, but I was lacking inspiration, so I tried an old and trusted source: tw100. It's a long time since I've written a Torchwood drabble, and it's good to be back, even if this is technically a double-drabble!

Title: and tomorrow and tomorrow

Summary: Tosh wants a date
Notes: For the challenge 'Hard'

Tosh double-checked the cinema listings on her computer screen. Not that she needed to; she'd memorized the showings last night, at the same time as she'd imagined her conversation with Owen. 

It wouldn't be hard to ask him, she told herself again now. There were two films he'd mentioned wanting to see, and it was perfectly natural for her to offer to go with him. Friends did that kind of thing all the time.

She took a slow, calming breath and got up, ignoring the way her heart had started pounding. It was only a few steps to where Owen sat, and she arrived there too soon for her liking.

“Hi, Owen.” Her voice sounded artificially loud and bright to her ears.

Owen glanced up. “Alright, Tosh?”

“I was just wondering…”

“Yeah?” 

Tosh swallowed. Say it. It's just a cinema trip. Say it.

“Are you finished with that autopsy report yet?” she asked finally, hating the words.

“Give me a chance, it's only been an hour,” Owen said, turning back to his computer.

“Right, sorry, of course.” She slipped back to her seat, head down.

She would try again tomorrow. It had to get easier eventually. Didn't it?

Poor Tosh. Asking Owen out isn't as easy in reality as it is in her head. I hope she eventually gets up the nerve.

Poor Tosh. One of these says she'll get up the courage, or maybe Owen will just get his head out of his arse and see what's right in front of him.
