Cruising!
Happy belated Halloween f-list!
I come to you with pimpage!
I am really hoping to attend the awesome-looking Comic Con at Sea. It takes place on a beautiful cruise ship in summer 2015, and as well as getting to visit lots of lovely places and gorge yourself on cruise-food, you also get panels and workshops with actors and other guests! Attending are James Marsters and Nic Brendon from Buffy, Kai Owen and Gareth David-Lloyd from Torchwood, and loads of others!Plus also me.
If you fancy going, check out THIS WEBSITE or visit their livejournal page
comiccruise. And in a few months' time you could be sharing a hot tub with James Marsters! Plus also me.

I will be fascinated to hear what it's like, I'm intrigued by it as normally they get paid a lot for these cons and for every type of contact, like photos etc. Which is totally fair enough as it's a job for them after all, but I just wonder how they will negotiate it all on a cruise ship.
Mind you I often think about the same thing when you hear these cruises advertised with celebrity chefs and the like.

www.comicconatsea.com (at the bottom) they send about a newsletter every 2-3 weeks so nothing too bad and its very informational.

So for example if you were to take the Fantasy special interior room at $1785 (which you could still get at $1635 with the special code) in reality you pay about $ 430.00 for all convention stuff (panels, concerts, photos, autographs, cocktail party) you pay almost $ 400.00 in port fees and $ 100 in tips for the staff of the cruise company, that means about $850 for the stay, the food and all the activities (surf/mountain climbing/pools/spa/golf/nightclub) and the shows (Mama Mia, Aria, etc...) and a change to visit incredible cities. Plus you can pay in 4 times so it's actually cheaper than trying to go to a Supernatural convention let's say in Vancouver or Vegas and you'd still have special time reserved to visit these countries while in the Standard cons you are stuck all day in a convention hall, famished and waiting for hours for your photo op.

In the US like going to catalina or alaska prices are really good but they are not authorized to do such pricing in Europe, so if another company has a great 7 days please please please let us know as soon as possible by pm.

Royal pricing for people not part of the group can be found here:
http://www.royalcaribbean.com/findacruise/cruiseDetails/itineraryAndPricing.do?state=&packageCode=AL07M268&hasFireandPolice=&hasMilitary=&hasSenior=&date=201506&cruiseType=CO&sailDate=1150614
and go from 2529 (1500 at comiccon) in interior to 2819 (2450 at comiccon) in balcony so considering that the prices at comic con at sea includes all the panels even if someone do not want to come to the convention they still get a better price booking through the con... They used to be cheaper by a good $500.00 but as spots became rarer their prices are rising...
The problem with the US Carnival routes is that none of their ships have a big enough conference space or venue to have a convention in them or at least be dedicated to the convention long enough to have panels :(
