This is great! Neal getting sick and then trying to hide it early in the relationship is one of my favorite tropes. There's always so much of the characters and their relationship there - Neal tough but also vulnerable, both too experienced in how the world works and yet somewhat emotionally immature. Peter who can be thoughtless and inadvertently mean at times, yet is without question a good person at heart. And their friendship, so flawed but strong all the same. (Also there's angst. I'm an angst junkie :D ) Loved it. Great story :)
