It was all going so well when I last posted about GYWO back in April! \o/ \o/ \o/
And since then....

So let's just round up for the sake of completion, and then I can make a fresh start, yes? Very good.

OH BUT I CAN TOTALLY MAKE THAT UP, RIGHT?

I'll try anyway. Why not?

Things worked on: iZombie Liv/Blaine fic for [community profile] screenexchange  drabbles round; White Collar Peter/Neal fic for [community profile] slashorific ; White Collar Peter & Neal fic for [community profile] fandomgiftbox

I haven't actually got around to posting these on my journal yet, they are posted on my shiny new AO3 account (or the fandomgiftbox comments). So, a question. Those of you with AO3 accounts, do you also post the fic fully on your journal, or do you just link to it? Opinions please and thank you!

Hello any Lucifer-watchers!

I was wondering if you could help me with a question! Do we ever see Amenadiel drinking anything? ie. alcohol, etc? I seem to recall that he orders a glass of milk at a bar in one episode, but I'm not sure if I've either a) imagined that or b) got it from a fanfic or something? If anyone can confirm/deny, and maybe even give me an episode number, that would be awesome!

The reason I'm asking is that I got assigned Amenadiel as the character that Hannibal Lecter meets in my [community profile] intoabar  fic. I'm not at all inspired by this pairing but I do want to write something for the comm, even if it's a super short scene, so help on the drinking front would be great. (Also, if you have any plot ideas/requests, go ahead!!)

Thank you!

Remember when I signed up for Get Your Words Out 2017 even though my 2016 attempt wasn't very good? And then I did a grand total of one progress post? No? Fair enough.

Anyway, here's a final rundown!

Goal for 2017: 75,000 words
Actual word count: 36,274 words

OVER HALFWAY, WOOT WOOT. Better than 2016, anyway.

I didn't get round to accurately recording exactly how many days I wrote for etc, but I can tell you that the words were divided as so:

6,433 for various [community profile] fandom_stocking fics (White Collar, Suits, Brooklyn 99, Torchwood, How to Get Away With Murder)
1,555 for [livejournal.com profile] runthecon (White Collar)
2,305 for various trope meme fills, some of which are still unfinished (White Collar)
779 for [livejournal.com profile] comment_fic (Angel, The Walking Dead)
1,890 for a ficlet, and an unfinished fic for Supernatural
21,731 for [community profile] wc_reverse_bb (White Collar)
1,581 for [livejournal.com profile] whitecollarhc advent (White Collar)

I have signed up again in the hope that I'll do a bit better this year :) If you'd like to join me and you've not used the community, I can highly recommend it for the friendly mods, the motivation posts, the helpful trackers, the challenges and the amazing resources. You can still pledge up until 15th January!

Obviously Jan went somewhat better than Feb! January does tend to be a good month - lots of inspiration via fandom stocking prompts, plus we had runthecon. I'm not sure what happened to February /o\

On the plus side: YAY I AM SUPER PLEASED I'VE FINALLY GOTTEN AROUND TO DOING A PROGRESS POST!

I have signed up for GYWO 2017! \o/ I have a shiny new spreadsheet! \o/

But I feel like I need to make a record of 2016 first, despite the fact that it was not such a great year for writing /o\ /o\

A snippet of a possible follow-up to Lost Boy
A HTGAWM Connor/Oliver fic that got Jossed but that I may still complete
Some editing on an old barely-begun WC fic
A fandom stocking fic for 2017

I can't quite believe I wrote so little, but I feel motivated to ensure this year is better! It's off to a reasonable start with a few fics having been written for fandom stocking which I can post later in the week :) I will try and do actual progress posts again this year, a la 2015, in the hope that will keep me on course! I'm also hoping to participate in more challenges, to try and write some longer fics again, and to try and finish off a few of my WIPs. Good luck to anyone else who's got writing goals for the year ♥

It's been a while since I've meme'd! Snagged from [livejournal.com profile] aragarna and [livejournal.com profile] sheenianni.

Give me the titles of one or more fics I've written, and the number/s you want me to answer for it.

You can find my masterlist here, though feel free to ask about ones that aren't on there too.

1: What inspired you to write the fic this way?
2: What scene did you first put down?
3: What's your favorite line of narration?
4: What's your favorite line of dialogue?
5: What part was hardest to write?
6: What makes this fic special or different from all your other fics?
7: Where did the title come from?
8: Did any real people or events inspire any part of it?
9: Were there any alternate versions of this fic?
10: Why did you choose this pairing for this particular story?
11: What do you like best about this fic?
12: What do you like least about this fic?
13: What music did you listen to, if any, to get in the mood for writing this story? Or if you didn't listen to anything, what do you think readers should listen to to accompany us while reading?
14: Is there anything you wanted readers to learn from reading this fic?
15: What did you learn from writing this fic?

Fics worked on:
When I'm Sixty-Four
My WC Big Bang
A little of my WC Hurt/Comfort Advent fic
A short fic for WC that I haven't posted yet
A tiny SPN comment fic

I didn't quite make my custom target for November, which was half of the remaining yearly target, but at least I managed to catch up a little. By the end of the month I was only (!) around 10k behind, instead of the near-15k-behind that I was at the start of the month.

This leaves me 16.5k words to write in December if I want to make my target. I definitely have enough things to write - the end of my WC Big Bang, three different advent fics, and hopefully some fandom stocking fics - but the issue will be time, because I have so much stuff to do on the house before Christmas, and then we'll have guests for five days. I'm still hopeful though!

October has not been a great month - I might do an update post later - and I've barely written anything in the last couple of weeks. This leaves me 14,626 words behind my target! /o\ And means I have to write around 13,600 words in November and another 13,600 in December in order to finish. That's around 500 words a day. This seems... wildly unlikely?

But it could happen!

My second WC RBB, Nature of the Chase

I was so excited to finish Nature of the Chase, partly because it had been stalled for quite a while, and partly because it turned out twice as long as anything I've written before. It's given me a bit of confidence to write longer fics!

For June, though, I am hoping to write some more fills for the prompts I got for my trope bingo card, and there are a couple of prompts at [livejournal.com profile] collarcorner that have caught my eye too :)

After that I will have to start thinking of what to write for the White Collar Big Bang I've signed up for at [livejournal.com profile] whitecollar_bb - exciting! And, as always, quite terrifying.

I had a lot of days where I didn't write, but I'm still on track, though I have yet to emulate the heady heights of January! I'm really enjoying the fic I'm working on, it's the first time I've ever really written fantasy(/sci-fi?) so it's fun and challenging. I'm hoping I can get it mostly finished in April, fingers crossed!

A WC ficlet for the prompt-fest which I will post soon
My second WC Reverse BB, which is still proving troublesome, but which now at least has a beginning!

I also posted Deal With It which was written in January.

I didn't do so well in February. Embarrassingly I only wrote on three days! But three days is better than none :) I was feeling pretty rough a lot of the month. So I made less than half my monthly goal; fortunately due to success in January I'm not behind in my overall wordcount. I really need to make some more progress in my WCRBB though. Fingers crossed for March being better!

Overall progress meter:

11717 / 75000 words. 16% done!

Monthly goal for January: 6,370
Actual word count for January: 11,717

Fics worked on:
- Let It Snow
- My first fic for the WC Reverse Big Bang, which I've done about 80% of I think, maybe a little more
- My second fic for the WCRBB, which I've done only a few hundred words on (and I think a lot of that will need to be rewritten cos I'm not happy with it)
- A couple of short fics and a hope-it-will-eventually-be-long fic for my trope bingo card

I wrote 5347 words more than my target for this month! \o/ I've written more in January 2015 than I did in the whole of 2014, so I'm feeling pretty positive about that, even though I'm not thrilled with every word and I went a few days without writing anything. I haven't achieved a whole lot else this month to be fair as my health and sleep have been very up and down, so I've been resting a lot and just reading or writing, but still I feel that that's productive :) And the more I read and write, the more I think: a) I heart fanfic soo much, and b) yes, maybe I can has novel one day. *bounces*
cookiegirl: (Laugh nervously)

Last year one of my resolutions was to write more. More fanfic, more original fic, more book ideas, just more. But as it turned out, I wrote less. In fact, from March to October I wrote not a single word of fic /o\. Overall, I wrote about 10k in 2014, of which over half was in December for my WC H/C Advent fic and yet-unposted Fandom Stocking fics. But getting back to writing has reminded me how much I love it, so! I signed up for this:

GetYourWordsOut: Year Seven!
Pledges & Requirements | GYWO.net

They've introduced a new lower pledge for 75,000 words (reserved for those with chronic conditions, which I qualify for, so yay, I guess \o?). That's 7.5 times what I wrote in 2014! I know it's kind of a small number compared with a lot of fanfic writers, but it's pretty epic for me, so please to be cheerleading :D I shall be boring you all with progress reports along the way!

Also, you should totally join as well :)
