The final day! The marathon is over.
I guess I'll have to find something meaningful to put in my posts from now on!

Question List

Day 30: Your favourite pairing for ever and ever and ever!

Spoilers for all of Buffy. "100 plus years, and there's only one thing I've ever been sure of..." )

Could anyone overtake these two as my favourite pairing? Unlikely, though if Torchwood's Jack and Gwen find some way to live happily ever after then we might have to have a throwdown.

Yesterday's and the day before's!

Question List

Day 28: A pairing that you will never understand.
House/Stacey (HOUSE)

I just didn’t get this. Not only did they have zero chemistry, but it seemed to make no sense that someone as boring as Stacey would keep the interest of someone like House. I was glad when she left, and thank goodness she hasn’t returned (well, not in any of the episodes I’ve seen so far anyway!).

Day 29: What ship had the best proposal?

Spoilers for the end of Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip )

And hey, look! I embedded a video under my LJ cut! I am QUEEN OF TECHNOLOGY!

Woop! It's on time! Look at me, actually posting an answer on the day I'm supposed to!

Question List

Day 27: A pairing that you loved and ended up hating.
Dawson/Joey (DAWSON'S CREEK)

This was a lot easier to decide on than yesterday's question. From the very first episode of Dawson's Creek, I adored the Dawson/Joey pairing. I guess this might have been because they were so smart and culturally literate in their verbal banter, or it might have been because at the time I'd never even been kissed by a boy and I identified with Joey's girl-next-door-ness, and wanted her to win out over the more sexually confident Jen. Or it might just have been that I thought Dawson and Joey were both pretty hot. Even watching the first couple of seasons back now, I still love their relationship, and the last episode of season 1 is still one of my favourite episodes. BUT THEN! Then we had season 3, which brought us a whiner, more irritating Dawson, a distinctly hotter Pacey, and a the-chemistry-is-so-obvious-it-hurts flirtation between Joey and Pacey. From the first episode of season 3, my allegiances switched whole-heartedly to Pacey/Joey in a way I don't think has happened on any other show. I LOVED them, and after that, I just found Dawson to be the annoying, narcissistic ex who kept getting in the way. Sorry dude.

Runners Up: House/Cameron (HOUSE)
This could have been beautiful, but in the end it just became unpleasant.

Another day, another four-hours-late posting. I think perhaps I am not cut out for '30 Days Of' memes! And I've been on the net nonstop for the last five hours or so, so I don't even have an excuse! Bad memory, bad!

Question List

Day 26: A pairing that you hated and ended up loving.
Carla/Turk (SCRUBS)

This was a hard question to answer because I genuinely didn't feel like it applied to any of the couples that I ship. I've had a couple I'm not fussed about turn into a couple I loved, but I can't remember actually hating any couples and then changing my mind. So I've gone with Carla and Turk, simply because I really didn't like Carla and the way she treated Turk in the first couple of episodes (if I recall correctly), but I very quickly ended up liking the pairing a lot. Neither hate nor love really apply, but it's the best I can do.

I considered Buffy's Anya and Xander too, as I wasn't keen on them at first, but again, hate and love are far too strong. And my emotions for Anya/Xander shifted back and forth a few times, whereas my feelings for Carla/Turk went from dislike to a pretty constant like, so they're probably the better choice.

Day 25: A pairing that was/would be adorable, but could never work out.
Spoilers for season 4 of Buffy, and very mild for season 3 of Doctor Who )

Question List

Day 24: A crazy love triangle/quadrilateral that worked out badly.
Angela/Hodgins/Grayson/Cam (BONES)

Don't pretty much all love triangles/quadrilaterals work out badly? Still, this one wins for how incredibly annoying it was, given that it destroyed a much-loved ship of mine. This unfortunate and highly bizarre mishmash of relationships ended up ripping apart the awesome coupling that was Hodgins and Angela. I still miss them, and I still don’t really understand why they needed to break up.

(By the way, I’ve only watched series 1-4 of Bones, so if this situation is no longer the case then I apologise! And no spoilers in the comments please! :) I did see something I wish I hadn’t whilst searching for a nice pic of these two, and it gives me hope, but I don’t want it confirmed...season 5 is on my next-to-buy list!)

Question List

Day 22: A pairing you hate and noone understands why.
Rachel/Jesse (GLEE)

I know there was collective joy among Glee fans when Jonathon Groff joined the cast, but I thought this relationship was really poorly written and Jesse/Groff didn’t seem to know what his motivation was from one moment to the next. Groff played it at points as though Jesse was genuinely falling for Rachel, but if that was the case then the ending of the pairing made no sense at all. It was all very strange and I’m glad he’s not been in the second series.

Day 23: A crazy love triangle/quadrilateral that worked out great.
Lois/Clark/Superman (LOIS & CLARK: THE NEW ADVENTURES OF SUPERMAN)

Very few love triangles work out well, but this one has got to have the happiest ending I can think of. Of course, it helps (a lot) that Clark and Superman turned out to be the same person. But still, Lois got over Superman and fell for Clark before she figured it out, so I reckon even if they hadn’t been one and the same, this would still have worked out well.

Ugh, I feel horrid. I have something that doesn't seem to be able to make up its mind if it's a cold or the flu. Either way, it's unpleasant. And it has been hampering me from updating my LJ. So today and tomorrow (providing I haven't gotten even worse by then) you get a double dose of shipping to compensate.

Question List

Day 20: The can't-stand-the-sexual-tension pairing.
Jack/Gwen (TORCHWOOD)

Ok, so I’ve already used them once, but I couldn't resist putting them down for this question. And I do love them, so I figured they deserved one repeat. Besides, every time I think of sexual tension, it’s Jack and Gwen’s gun training scene from Ghost Machine, and the pinning-Gwen-against-the-wall scene from Meat that spring to mind. Unbelievably hot.

Day 21: A pairing you like and noone understands why.
Dean/Jo (SUPERNATURAL)

I liked this pairing almost instantly, and I have no idea why it wasn’t developed, or why Jo was in so few episodes. The rest of the fandom seems to hate her, and to hate the idea of Dean and Jo together even more, but I would have loved to see more scenes between them. I think they had great chemistry and could really have understood each other. My heart just went out to Jo whenever Dean failed to recognise what they might have been.

(On a side note, a silver lining to feeling ill is that I get to use the 'sore' mood and have a pic of Owen tending to Gwen's gunshot wound. How cute was that scene?)

Question List

Day 19: A pairing you've rooted for since the beginning.
Eric/Donna (THAT 70S SHOW)

There are so many possible choices here, but in the spirit of not repeating myself, I’ll go for Eric and Donna. Not a favourite ship of mine, but they are so sweet and realistic as a couple and whenever they were apart it just didn’t seem right. From the first time they sat on the hood of the Vista Cruiser to the last, I just wanted it all to work out for them.

Question List

Day 18: What is the cutest pairing?

This is an impossible question! There are so many adorable pairings out there that I've really struggled to choose just one. So I've had to include three runners up. Here are four of the cutest couples from my favourite shows, in photographic form:

Cut, because there are FOUR WHOLE IMAGES underneath! )

Late again, sorry. I don't think anyone's setting their diary by this though, so I figure it's probably OK.

Question List

Day 17: A pairing you never thought would work, but did.
Jack/Ianto (TORCHWOOD)

The first time I watched Torchwood, it was when it was on TV. I only watched it casually, and if I remember correctly, I didn't watch any further than Random Shoes. Even so, I shipped Jack and Gwen from the first moment, though nowhere near as avidly as I do now. But Ianto...well Ianto I barely noticed. In Cyberwoman, I literally wondered where on earth he'd come from, seeing as I couldn't remember him from any of the previous episodes. And after Cyberwoman, I pretty much forgot about him again. So I remember being highly confused by the stopwatch scene at the end of They Keep Killing Suzie. What was going on? Why was the receptionist guy whose name I wasn't sure of suddenly propositioning Jack? It seemed completely out of the blue to me.

Fast forward to the middle of 2010, and I decided to watch Torchwood again, mostly because of James Marsters. And this time, I paid attention. And started to really love Ianto. And to notice the little moments between him and Jack. Now, Jack/Gwen is still very much my OTP, but this time around I wasn't at all surprised by the stopwatch scene...in fact, I kind of liked it. And I kind of liked every scene the two had together.

It's not a particularly popular view, but I don't think Jack/Ianto and Jack/Gwen are mutually exclusive. I think he loves/loved them both in different ways and although if I had to choose one, it would be Jack/Gwen every time, I do think Jack and Ianto had a lot of lovely qualities when they were together.

I also think the fandom has increased my love of them, particularly through fanfic. There's so little seen on screen, so there's so much that's open to interpretation, and one writer who is now on my f-list writes them in such a beautiful, amazing way (and with such regularity, hooray!) that it's made me adore them even more. She's pretty much created my ideal relationship through them, so it's definitely increased my shipping of them, even if it's not canon.

So there we are. And sorry [livejournal.com profile] karaokegal , I know you'll disapprove! ;)

Oh, and I hope all my f-list had a good Valentine's Day! In honour of it, and in honour of this post, have a candy heart, made for me by the lovely [livejournal.com profile] aviv_b !

Day 16: What is the absolute worst pairing?

Halfway through! Feels like it's been going forever!

Question List

Day 15: What is your favourite real life pairing?
Jensen/Jared (SUPERNATURAL)

I’m pretty new to the Supernatural fandom, having just got into the series over the last couple of months, but Jared and Jensen are both so gorgeous, and look like such great friends, that I can’t resist this pairing. Youtube videos of the two of them at conventions together have made me fall in love. (Oh and I mean this in a friendshippy way, not in a 'Wincest' way!)

Day 14: What is your favourite book pairing?
Kaitlyn/Gabriel (THE DARK VISIONS TRILOGY by L.J.SMITH)

I don’t ship many couples from books, but I remember totally falling for these two when I read this series back around the age of 13. It was a classic love triangle with Kaitlyn, good boy Rob and bad-boy-with-a-heart Gabriel. I can’t actually remember who (if anyone) Kaitlyn ended up with, which I think is a good reason to buy the books next time I see them.

Question List

Day 13: What is your favourite movie pairing?
Giselle/Robert (ENCHANTED)

I don’t really get excited about movie pairings in the way I do about TV relationships. I love watching them at the time, but I don’t tend to do the whole fanvids/fanfic/etc thing afterwards. Still, if I had to choose a favourite couple, it would definitely be these two. I love the actors, I love the film and I turned to absolute mush when they waltzed together. Beautiful.

Oh, and it's a nice excuse to post a pic of Patrick Dempsey in his PJs.

Day 11: What is your dream pairing?
Jack/Gwen (TORCHWOOD)

Day 11: the day I've been waiting for! I can’t even express how much I want these two to get together. I love both Jack and Gwen as characters individually, and together they are just a mass of amazing, sweet, sexy, intense energy. During the first episode of Torchwood I fell in love with their relationship, and I can barely understand why it was sidetracked and then seemingly forgotten about by the beginning of series 3. I have high hopes for series 4 though. If and when the day comes that they get together, I’ll be shouting from the rooftops. And from my journal.
