Day 25: A pairing that was/would be adorable, but could never work out.
Willow/Giles (BUFFY)
I always thought these two would make an adorable couple, and right up until Willow met Tara, I honestly thought there was a good chance they might end up together. After all, they had so much in common, and who can forget Willow's I've-got-Giles'-photo-in-my-locker cuteness? I have to admit that even after Willow realised she was gay (and I STILL don't understand why she suddenly defined herself as gay, rather than just saying she was bi, which would appear to make more sense, but that's another discussion), I still would have liked them to get together. But I think with the age difference and Willow's sexuality, they fall firmly into the 'could never work out' category. Shame.
Runners Up: Jack/Rose (DOCTOR WHO)
OK, so Rose was always meant to be with the Doctor, and Jack is meant to be with...well, that's a bit of a minefield, but I'd go with the Doctor, Gwen and Ianto before Rose. Even so, they were incredibly cute, especially when they first met. I adored the scenes with them in (and on top of) Jack's spaceship, especially the psychic paper bit! And Rose's blatant crush was adorable.
And an honourable mention to: Ten/Martha (DOCTOR WHO)
I'd love to have seen what these two would be like if the Doctor wasn't already so broken from Rose. In the brief flashes when he forgot his past and just enjoyed being with Martha, they were super-sweet. He and Martha were very similar and well suited in a lot of ways, and I really felt for her when he just refused to see her in that way, even though I understand his reasons.

Date: 2011-02-22 10:49 pm (UTC)And while I'm willing to ship Giles/ANYBODY, I could totally see Giles/Willow. (Don't even get me started on the "no bisexuals" trope in Buffy.) In fact, there's almost a hate!sex dynamic to the Giles/Dark-Willow fight.
OH MARTHA!!! I cannot sit through Family of Blood, because I always end up frothing at the mouth about the Doctor's treatment of Martha, even if he was technically John Smith at the time.

Date: 2011-02-23 10:28 pm (UTC)Argh I watched Family of Blood for the first time recently and I was sooo annoyed too! I didn't like John Smith AT ALL. (and also, I was highly freaked out by the schoolboy turned alien bloke... he was a great actor but incredibly disturbing!!)
