As soon as I saw this meme I was struck by the need to do it myself. Mostly because, although none of the TV characters I will choose as answers are real people, many of them have still had a considerable influence on my life. Some of them have encouraged me to be a better person, and some of them have made me accept and come to terms with the flaws in myself as I saw them reflected back at me. Some of them have comforted me, some have made me laugh, some have inspired me or helped me to be strong. I despair when I see that a lot of the women in the most popular TV shows or films today are very poor role models for young women (yes Bella, I’m talking about you). So this meme will be not only be enjoyably fan-girlish for me because I get to squee and post pics of cute girl-crushes and so on, but it will also be a celebration of the impressive female characters who have rocked and still do rock my world. Hope my lovely f-list enjoys it too!

Buffy Summers (Buffy the Vampire Slayer)



Buffy is probably my favourite character of all time, and could have been the answer to at least half of the questions on this meme. More than any other character, she has influenced who I am, from my values to the way I speak. I didn't always agree with her actions in the later seasons, but I always loved her and understood her. She has so many of the qualities that I would hope to find in myself, my friends, my future daughters: Strength, loyalty, determination, kindness, selflessness, compassion, wit, passion... and usually really great hair. I could talk about her for a long time, but suffice to say, she is a very worthy start to a meme of 'Awesome Ladies'.

I have, literally, just started watching it. I've seen the first episode and it ended on a cliffhanger.

If you don't like the first season too much it's probably worth carrying on for a bit anyway because the quality shoots up around 2-3. x

I'm going to gank this one. I've been pretty quiet on the meme front this year and I'd like to get going again.

As I think you know, I wasn't watching much (as in any) network TV when Buffy was first on, so I went through the whole thing in a few months on DVD two years ago. I like the character, although not necessarily as much as I night if I'd first seen her when I was the "target age."

Yeah I think I was 12 when it first came on, so I sort of grew up with her, I can imagine maybe not being quite so keen on the first series for example if I started watching it now!
