30 Days of Awesome Ladies - Day 14

I feel like I started this meme a couple of months ago. Apparently, I actually started it in... March. I never planned to do it in 30 consecutive days, but still, March? Ridiculous! So, let's get things moving again.
(On the plus side, it's occurred to me that in the intervening months I've learned how to use gifs, so we'll be having those rather than pictures from now on \o/)*
Question List
Day 14: Favourite Female Character who is a MOTHER
Miranda Bailey (Grey's Anatomy)

I didn't have too many characters to choose from for this question - oddly, there seem to be very few women with children in the shows I watch, probably due to the fact that they're either too young, or focused on their careers/fighting the forces of evil. However, Miranda Bailey is a great example of a character who manages to juggle the demands of being a single mum with those of being a sought-after surgeon moving up through the ranks at Seattle Grace. Bailey is not just a good mum to her own child, she is also a surrogate mother to all theidiotic challenging interns under her care. She takes care of them, forces them to be better doctors and better people, and is a fantastic role model of a woman who is strong and tough but also emotional and compassionate. The season six finale where she battles through her fear to try and help Charles is both amazing and heartbreaking. If I was a medical intern, I'd want Bailey in charge and on my side.
*I didn't make the gifs and won't be taking credit for them!
